LASH 101

Eyelash extension is a new procedure that extends the real lash with a new weightless and very natural looking synthetic lash.

Classic eyelash extension: Apply one extension to each of your natural lashes using a special bonding agent that lasts through the length of your natural growth cycle of each lash. Depending on the look you seek, we apply 60 to 100 synthetic lashes to each eye, on average.
Volume eyelash extensions (Russian volume lashes) : Apply multiple extensions to each of your natural lashes using a special bonding agent that lasts through the length of your natural growth cycle of each lash. Depending on the look you seek, we can apply 200 to 600 synthetic lashes to each eye.

Along with the types of lashes, you can pick different curves, thickness, and sizes. Although we use synthetic lashes for most of our treatments, we also offer real mink for an additional amount. Our lash specialist will go over each type with you prior to your procedure.

Thickness for classic single extension: 0.10, 0.15, 0.20
Thickness for volume extension: 0.05, 0.07
Length: 7mm to 16mm

When properly applied, lash extensions can be worn throughout the year with minimal monthly maintenance. Your lashes have a life cycle. Because the extensions are safely glued to your real lashes, when the natural ones fall out, so do the extensions. Touch-ups are recommended after the initial full set application to refill any that have cycled out. A touch-up appointment is recommended every 2-4 weeks based on your natural growth to have the fullest lashes.

After several weeks, you lashes may shed at varying degrees. If you have shed less than 50% of your eyelash extensions when you come in for a retouch, then we consider that as refill. However, if more than 75% of your lashes have shed, we will consider that doing a full set of lashes.

When applied properly by our Lash L'Amour experts, lash extensions will not harm natural lashes. A proper technique requires several different "separation" steps during application, so each extension is adhered to a single natural lash. This way we don't interrupt the lash growth cycle.

No, the extension lashes are glued onto your existing eyelashes. The synthetic lash and the glue will never come in contact with your skin.

Preparing for your exciting journey to new lashes is easy. You should thoroughly clean your lashes with a mild oil-free cleanser. Be sure that not even a trace of mascara is left. Lashes should not be curled or permed. That's it. Since the procedure can last up to two hours, feel free to relax to music on your iPod or iPhone during your time at Lash L'Amour.

Most definitely. These new lashes won't interrupt your lifestyle. The bonding agent is waterproof and allows you to shower, swim, exercise, etc. Special care is required for the longest wear, but overall maintenance is low. We do recommend that you do not wash your eye area for 24 hours after the eyelash application, so that the glue has a chance to adhere properly.

The following should not be used: waterproof mascaras; manual or heated lash curlers; or oil-based eye products around or on your eyes. You should also avoid excessively rubbing lashes or eyes while washing your face, as well as being in hot steam rooms or showers for extended periods of time.

Part of the joy of lash extensions is that you won't feel the need to wear mascara to have gorgeous eyes. But if you want to give them even more definition, you can certainly use mascara, provided it is NOT OIL-BASED OR WATERPROOF.

To maintain the integrity of your own natural lashes, we're happy to professionally and gently remove your extension using a special remover. Please do not attempt to remove them yourself as the glue is very strong.
